What is Magha Gupt Navratri?

Magha Gupt Navratri is a festival dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, also known as Gupta Navratri. It lasts for nine days and usually falls in the month of January or February. There are four Navratris in a year: Chaitra, Sharadiya, and two Gupt Navratris (Magh and Ashadha). Magha Gupt Navratri is celebrated with special devotion and faith in the states of North India such as Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.

It is believed that those who duly worship Mata Rani during this period attain happiness, peace, and prosperity. This fast is observed secretly to fulfill wishes and is of great significance in Tantric practices.

Magh Gupt Navratri Puja Vidhi (Magh Gupt Navratri 2025 Puja Vidhi)

During Magh Gupt Navratri, the Goddess is worshipped with utmost devotion and dedication. If you wish to observe this fast, follow these steps:

  1. Morning Bath: Wake up in the Brahma Muhurta, take a bath, and thoroughly clean the puja room.
  2. Kalash Sthapana: Install the idol of the Goddess on an altar and install the Kalash according to the auspicious time.
  3. Light a Lamp and Offer Bhog: Light a lamp with pure ghee and offer the Goddess a garland of hibiscus flowers, vermilion, panchamrit, coconut, chunri, fruits, and sweets.
  4. Puja Samagri: Before the puja, gather all the materials, such as a photo of Goddess Durga, a red chunri, makeup items, the Durga Saptashati book, Ganga water, mango leaves, sandalwood, coconut, camphor, barley seeds, etc.
  5. Avoid Tamasic Food: Avoid Tamasic food (onion, garlic, and non-vegetarian food) during this holy period.
  6. Aarti and Apology: Conclude the puja with the Mata's Aarti and ask for forgiveness for any mistakes.

Significance of Gupt Navratri

The Gupt Navratri fast is considered very auspicious, but very few people know about it. Those who observe this fast observe a strict fast for nine days and nine nights and worship Goddess Durga with complete devotion. This Navratri is very special for those who believe in Tantra Sadhana and Vashikaran practices.
